Our Services

Our Services

Our excellent team of trained carers who, as well as looking after the varied daily needs of the members, arrange numerous activities such as seated exercises, quizzes and bingo. There is also entertainment, especially musical, which is very popular.

Our Shop

Our Shop

Our charity shop is open 6 days a week except on bank holidays. We open 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Saturday. We accept clothes, books, records, CD's, jewellery and most other goods apart from furniture and electricals. We are staffed by a fulltime manager and volunteers. If you would like to become part of our team call into the shop and ask for Cathy our manager. If you are turned away when donating we apologise it sometimes is the case that we have too many donations (especially Mondays) and space is at a premium. Please discourage everyone you know from leaving things outside the shop when it is closed especially things we cannot sell.

Volunteers

Volunteers

Our Day Centre volunteers are asked to arrive just prior to 10.30am Monday to Friday, then serve tea, coffee and biscuits to members as they arrive. Lunch is served at 12 o'clock volunteers are expected to serve two courses and clear away after each course. There is no washing up as this is done by the kitchen staff. A free lunch is available on request. Usually finishing around 1pm. Our Shop Volunteers cover the shop open hours but work the number of hours that suit them.

Who are we?

We provide support for older people in our community and surrounding area.
Our objective is to enable the older people in our community and surrounding area to have access to a facility which provides for their social needs and wellbeing.

This is achieved by providing a minibus service to collect and return members to and from the Centre and providing companionship, social activities, hot meals and various care facilities.

Our History

Our Day Centre was created in 1989 as a charitable organisation to provide daily facilities for older residents of Sandhurst and the surrounding area. Its purpose was and is to ensure a facility for these valued members of our society to be able to socialise with their peers and to enjoy various and varied activities.

We provide optional transport to and from the Day Centre as well as providing tea/coffee/biscuits on arrival in the morning and prior to departure in the afternoon. A two-course hot lunch is provided using locally provided ingredients, freshly prepared each day by our cook.

How can you help us?

Our premises are available for hire during the evenings and weekends to provide an additional income stream. The charity shop in Sandhurst High Street provides a significant additional source of income and donations for the shop are always very welcome.

We have many loyal volunteers who help at the shop and the centre, and at fundraising events. New volunteers are always very welcome as are donations of any size, to help keep this very special Centre going.
