About

We provides a safe, caring and stimulating environment where members can come and meet old friends, make new ones, and have a good, nourishing midday meal, freshly cooked by our kitchen staff.

We are also aware that there are many elderly people caring at home for an equally elderly partner, and we are pleased to be able to offer them respite so they can leave their loved one for the day, knowing that they will be safe and well cared for.

Our excellent team of trained carers who, as well as looking after the varied daily needs of the members, arrange numerous activities such as seated exercises, quizzes and bingo. There is also entertainment, especially musical, which is very popular.

  • We have two minibuses which do a door-to-door service for people who cannot make their own way to the Centre.
  • Tea coffee and biscuits are provide mid morning and mid afternoon.
  • Two course freshly prepared lunches.
  • Afternoon Activities.
  • A weekly hairdressing service and a podiatrist comes fortnightly.
  • Physiotherapy and occupational therapy are also available.
  • Regular Live entertainment and large screen TV viewing.
About

The day to day running of the centre is under the responsibility of the Day Centre manager, Diane Mayhew. Diane has an NVQ for Registered Managers Level 4 awarded by The Centre of Vocational Excellence, Health & Social Care and Diane has a broad background in various aspects of healthcare. Diane is ably assisted by 4 care assistants.

The meals, using produce from local suppliers, are freshly prepared each day by a cook in the modern equipped kitchen.

We also have our own, specially adapted electric tail gate wheelchair platform minibus, to bring members to the centre in the mornings and to take them home in the afternoons, ably operated by our two drivers together with their escorts.

Finally we must not forget our cleaner, who ensures all is spick and span before our members arrive.

In addition to the employed staff we have a host of volunteers who in 2010 were nominated for the Queens Award for Voluntary Service. Without them we simply could not provide the service on which we pride ourselves. For peace of mind all staff and volunteers (where appropriate) are DBS checked. Volunteers are always welcome so if you have a few hours to spare we would always welcome your help.
